Pleasant Valley Botanicals pledges to promote highly functioning water, mineral, energy and biological systems on the land, and grow without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified organisms (GMO’s). We pledge to protect native plants and their habitats by responsible harvesting as well growing and protecting at risk native species. We pledge to support native pollinating insects through our planting choices, habitat stewardship and educational efforts. We pledge to continue to work toward sustainable food and health care systems, and a holistic approach to health and wellness of people, plants and planet.
Pleasant Valley Botanicals is a small medicinal herb farm in Northwest CT, owned and operated by Farmer Melody.

In addition to being a farmer/homesteader, I also work as a registered nurse. My background lies in community and public health nursing, especially with under-served and vulnerable populations.

9/2017 My opinion piece in the Hartford Courant "Nurses Forced to Discharge Medicaid Patients."

I have a lifelong passion for canoeing and kayaking. I have paddled as far North as Alaska and Newfoundland, and as far South as the Everglades and Baja California, Mexico.

Ginger Dog loves herbs too!
I am grateful for the love, support and encouragement from many family members and friends, and couldn't do this without them! I give thanks for my many teachers, and most of all to the plants for sharing their wisdom and enriching our lives.
